Do not leave food scraps in your countertop compost bin for more than a few days to a week before transferring to your outdoor compost. Do not leave it in a hot position or in direct sunlight. Wash your bin thoroughly between uses with warm soapy water - wood handle cannot be put in the dishwasher.
