A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
Hello again.
When we closed Helen Milan, it was for two reasons. First, it became clear that growing the business within the current retail system would have required us to compromise on the very things we set out to protect — environmental responsibility, a supply chain that values people over profit, and a direct, human connection with our community.
Second, on a more personal level, my family needed me in a way that couldn’t be outsourced or deferred. I made the decision to step away and be fully present at home.
What we didn’t fully expect — though maybe we should have — was the outpouring of letters, emails, and messages that followed. So many of you reached out to share what Helen Milan had meant to you. You told us about the rituals you built around our objects, the sense of calm, beauty, and intention they brought into your homes, and how our values echoed your own.
Those messages were deeply moving, and they’ve stayed with me. They reminded me that together, we had created something meaningful — something worth preserving, even if it needed to take a new shape.
Helen Milan has always stood for more than products. From day one, our mission was to support thoughtful living — to offer goods that are not only beautiful and functional, but made with integrity. Zero-waste where possible. Responsibly sourced. Crafted to last.
Over the past year, I’ve taken time to reflect on what a truly sustainable business looks like — not just environmentally, but emotionally and structurally. And now, with fresh clarity and renewed purpose, I’m slowly beginning to build again.
We’re not chasing scale. We’re not interested in volume. We’re here to continue offering low-waste goods — thoughtfully made, respectfully sourced, and created with both people and the planet in mind.
What we’ve found is that there is still space for a business like Helen Milan: one rooted in craftsmanship, care, and conscience.
We’re still in the quiet part of the process, but something new is taking shape. If you’ve been waiting, watching, or even just hoping — thank you.
We can’t wait to share what’s next.
With much love,
